You can easily import your transactions into Fygr from files in xls, xlsx and csv formats. To do this, follow the instructions on this page.

To optimise the process of importing your transactions, here is a list of checks and best practices that you can carry out:

  • On the file ;

  • On your Fygr account.

On the file (before import)

Here are the checks and changes you can make to your Excel or CSV file before importing it into Fygr to make the process easier.

  • About the file format

    We recommend that you start by using our template :

    in order to :

    • Use it as inspiration (rename the column headings in your file, etc.);

    • Fill it in directly (by copying and pasting the information from your file into the template).

    The file you import into Fygr must contain the following columns:

    • Value date ;

    • Trade date ;

    • Wording

    • A single amounts column with all amounts combined (negative and positive)

      OR

      Two columns: Debits and Credits.

    For a better understanding of the rest of this tutorial, let's call the above columns "Essential information columns".

    If your file contains other columns (i.e. descriptions, amount in francs, etc.), you can delete them directly as Fygr will not take them into account.

  • Empty cells, rows and columns

    When Fygr reads your file, empty cells, rows and columns can cause problems.

    • Make sure that the file does not contain any empty cells or rows.

    • Make sure the file does not contain any empty columns.

  • Date format

    Make sure that the cells in the "Value date" and "Transaction date" columns are in date format.

On your Fygr account

Once you've checked your file, we're going to show you a few tricks you can carry out directly in your Fygr account.

  • Create a dedicated import account

    To make it easy to find imported transactions, we strongly recommend that you create a dedicated import account. To do this, follow the instructions below:

    1. Go to the "Transactions" page;

    2. Click on the '+' button (top left of the screen) to import transactions;

    3. Select the bank corresponding to the transactions in your import file;

    4. Click on "Select an account", then on "Add an account";

    5. Name the account so that you can recognise it easily (i.e. "Manual Import").

  • Format of balance entered

    When you enter the balance in the required field, make sure you separate any decimals with a comma rather than a full stop.

  • Completing correspondence

    The correspondence between the fields in Fygr and the names of the columns in your table enables the tool to read your file correctly and import the transactions correctly into your Fygr account.

    Make sure to fill in all the necessary informations bellow

    • Value date ;

    • Transaction date ;

    • Label ;

    • A single Amounts column with all amounts combined (negative and positive)

      OR

      Two columns: Debits and Credits.

    For other information columns (i.e. Description, Category, etc.), it will not be necessary to enter matches as Fygr will not take them into account. You can leave "Not selected" in front of these fields.

  • It grinds on and on

    It is possible for the 'Validate' button to slow down indefinitely, particularly if your file contains a large number of transactions to be imported. In this case, simply wait a few minutes and reload the page.

    Once the page has been refreshed, you can easily check whether the import has worked using three methods:

    • If you have created a dedicated import account, you can filter transactions for this account;

    • See if the number of transactions has increased at the top left of the transaction table;

    • Manually search for transactions in your file in the search bar.

    If the import does not work, try again, checking that the good practices described on this page have been followed.

If you have followed all the above best practices and the import has not worked, you can contact us directly in the chat room, by e-mail at [email protected] or on +33 1 76 50 33 88.
